Cry Out America Event at American Pride

This afternoon, the Zanesville-Muskingum County community gathered to honor local veterans and those who protect us every single day.

Cry Out America has come to Zanesville for the 6th year this Sunday and in years past the event was held at the court house but with a growing crowd a new venue was needed. For the 2nd year in a row the gathering was held in the parking lot of American Pride. Almost 300 people attended exceeding last years turn out of 200. To find out more on the event we spoke with Muskingum County Coordinator Amy Moore..

“We have speakers, we have people singing like we have the Barber Shoppers. We also have, which I’m thrilled about, is Duncan Falls Elementary children for the first time because our theme this year is ‘restoring america through faith and family’ and so we got the little folks involved. And I’m a retired school teacher so I’m always thrilled when kids are involved.”

Cry Out America was started by the Awakening Alliance to honor First Responders in the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Moore says the event is intended to bring some positivity to the community and to those who work so hard to protect it.

“Even though there’s news about some police officers that have done something wrong, the majority of police officers are wonderful people and so we want to do the positive thing and we want a program that lifts up the people of Zanesville-Muskingum County and that’s what this program does.”

Moore says this has been an absolute blessing and looks forward to planning next years event.
