Operation Feed kicked off a two-month campaign to support the Muskingum County Hunger Network.

Cupcake bakers and eaters alike are invited to the 5th Annual Cupcake War on April 14.

With 12 bakers already signed up, there is still room for cupcake chefs to bring their tools and show off their skills and it doesn’t cost anything to participate.

Executive Director at Christ’s Table Keely Warden said participating in events like this one can make a big change in the lives of others in the community.

“We just kicked off our Operation [Feed] campaign last Friday and last year alone between the 15 food pantries and the four hot meal programs, 910,000, almost a million meals, were provided to Muskingum County,” said Warden. “So there is a need. ”

If you can’t cook, you can stop by and taste the cupcake creations and a lunch. For just a $6 donation you can get a ham sandwich, chips, water, and a cupcake of your choice as well as a ticket to vote in the cupcake war. Additional cakes are just 50 cents. Warden said she wants to thank all the sponsors, volunteers, and patrons that help make the campaign a success.

“There’s lots of opportunities to help in the next two months and we need all the help we can get in this community and we know they’re going to step up and help so we want to thank everybody,” said Warden.

The cupcake war is April 14-at 1830 East Pike in Zanesville. If you’d like to sign up you can contact Sarah Abrams at (740) 455-7146 ext. 150.
