Dantonio Selected to College Football Hall of Fame

Former Zanesville all-state safety Mark Dantonio has been selected to the College Football Hall of Fame. After graduating from Zanesville high school, Dantonio played his college ball at the University of South Carolina.
After his playing days came to an end he began a lengthy college coaching career. He was the head coach at Cincinnati from 2004-2006. There he became the first head coach in 23 years to lead the school to a winning season in his first year with the Bearcats.
Dantonio made a name for himself at Michigan State University. He was the head coach from 2007 until his retirement in 2019. He came out of retirement last year to coach the Spartens in the wake of Mel Tucker’s suspension.
He finished his time at Michigan State with a career 69–39 record and 6-6 in bowl games. Dantonio is also the winningest coach in program history.
