DAR’s Annual Picnic Kicks off Veterans Appreciation Weekend

ZANESVILLE, OH – Today kicked off a weekend full of events dedicated to the Veterans here in Muskingum County.

The Muskingum County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution hosted their annual Veterans Appreciation picnic from noon to 2PM at the Zanesville American Legion, Post 29.

Terry Khune, an Army Veteran that attended the picnic, says he attends many veterans appreciation luncheons and breakfasts but the thing that keeps him coming back is the comradery.

“To be with all my fellow comrades.” Khune said. “Cause we’ve been losing a lot of them and it shows respect. I’m glad [DAR] did this, it’s nice that somebody steps up and helps the veterans out.”

DAR has hosted this veterans appreciation picnic for the past 10 years and it just continues to grow.

Today’s menu consisted of hamburgers, hotdogs, baked beans, macaroni salad, chips, watermelon, and lemonade.
