Dateline NBC to air episode on the Brandy Daniels murder case

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- It was the crime that rocked Nashport and now it’s getting national attention.

In 2014, the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office received a case that would prove difficult to solve. It took nearly two years for multiple agencies to piece together enough evidence to take the case to court.

“The case is a case about two defendants, Josh Daniels and Sirius Underwood, and how they conspired to murder Josh Daniels’ wife, Brandy Daniels. This was a case that we completed the beginning of last year in 2017,” said Mike Haddox, a Muskingum County Prosecutor.

A few months after the case was closed, Dateline NBC expressed interest in doing a show on the murder. Dateline NBC crews came to Zanesville and filmed the special here in town. Haddox said the uniqueness of the case is what drew the high profile show to the area.

“One of the parts of the case that made it so difficult was that the husband of the victim was in Alaska at the time. Gave him what he thought was a nice alibi. He was allegedly working out there. And Sirius Underwood, who was a friend of his, and he had him do the murder for him.”

The special will air Friday night at 10 p.m. right here on WHIZ.
