Daughters of the American Revolution to Host Picnic for Veterans

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Daughters of the American Revolution are hosting a heartwarming picnic for veterans on Friday, July 19th.

The event will take place at the American Legion Post 29 at 12 PM. Veterans and their guests are invited to enjoy a delicious and free lunch featuring hamburgers, pasta salad, baked beans, chips, and cookies. This picnic is a wonderful way to honor and thank our veterans for their service and sacrifice.

“We thought about doing it around the 4th of July, but we were like “no they have their own celebrations” so, we decided to make it a couple weeks later and celebrate them towards the end of July… we get them out in better weather and get to celebrate them,” Muskingum Chapter Regent for Daughters of the American Revolution, Samantha Roush said.

This special event provides a fantastic opportunity for veterans to gather, share stories, and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the company of fellow servicemen and women.

“The veterans enjoy being together. They talk, they swap stories, “Where did you serve? What were you in? What branch?”. They don’t necessarily sit with someone they’ve known a long time. They are immediately enjoying each other’s company,” Daughters of the American Revolution Member, Ellen Shaw said.

The American Legion is located at 27 South 3rd Street in Zanesville. The picnic will wrap up at 2 PM.
