Deadly Shooting in Licking County

The Licking County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fatal shooting of a Newark man.

Authorities said they were called to the 5800 block of Jacksontown Road Southeast in Licking Township on Thursday just before midnight.

The sheriff’s department said there they located 58-year-old Todd Weiland with a gunshot wound and began CPR. The Heath and Licking Township Fire Departments arrived on scene and declared Weiland deceased.

Officials conducted interviews and arrested 41-year-old Richard Kreager of Columbus at the scene. He was taken to the Licking County Jail and is being held on receiving stolen property and for weapons under disability.
