With heavy hearts, we share that Debra Rose peacefully passed away on Monday, September 7th 2026, at OSU Hospital with her family by her side.
Born in Zanesville, Ohio to the late James and Shirley Thompson Bryant.
Debra was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter, whose greatest gift was the unconditional love she gave so freely to everyone around her.
To know Debra was to know that you always had a place to go. Her home was always open, where family and friends were welcomed, loved, and accepted. She never hesitated to give what she could, whether it was a listening ear, a helping hand, a warm meal, or simply a place where someone could feel at home. Her love did not come with conditions —she loved people for who they were.
She was, without a doubt, a strong-willed woman and a true firecracker. She knew what she believed, never hesitated to speak her mind, and was not one to back down easily. She had a spirited personality, a quick wit, and a determination that could fill a room. Those who knew her best knew that when she had her mind set on something, there was probably no changing it—and she wouldn’t have had it any other way. But beneath that feisty exterior was a fiercely loving heart. Her strength, independence, and unwavering determination were part of what made her so unforgettable. She lived life on her own terms, loved fiercely, stood up for the people she cared about, and left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She was one of a kind—a little bit stubborn, a whole lot of strong, and always a firecracker.
Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and some of her happiest, most treasured memories were made in their company. She found immense joy in watching them grow, caring for them, and simply being present for all the little moments that became the memories they will carry with them forever. Throughout her life, she lovingly helped raise generations of children. Her grandchildren will remember not only the things she did for them, but the love that surrounded them whenever they were with her.
Debra’s absence will be deeply felt by all who loved her. Yet her legacy will live on in the family she cherished, the memories made around her, and in everyone fortunate enough to experience her fierce, unconditional love. She will be loved, remembered, and missed always.
Survived by her husband of 44 years, Rodger Rose; sons, Rodger (Amanda) Rose Jr., and Noel Rose; grandchildren, Hunter (Leah) Rose, Emma Rose, Carter Rose, Bryer Rose, Keller Rose, and Brenan Lyons; great-grandchildren, Cash Rose and Callie Rose; brothers, Dick and Jim Bryant; and sister, Penny Baker.
Calling hours will be held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, with a funeral service at 1:00 pm, with Reverend Richard Newlon officiating on Friday, September 11, 2026, at the Roberts-Winegardner Funeral Home, 304 Mill Street, New Lexington, Ohio.
Burial will follow at the Whippstown Cemetery in Corning, Ohio.
