Democrats Respond to Romney Visit
Both sides of the presidential race will have their say in Zanesville this week.
The Democratic National Committee stopped in Zanesville Monday, one day before Romney’s visit. The DNC’s bus tour across Ohio focuses on Romney’s economic policy and the strain they believe it will have on seniors, the middle class and healthcare. The message of the tour was the choice Ohioan’s have in this election.
"It’s a choice between going forward with President Obama or going backwards with Romney and that’s really what we’re doing. We’re traveling the state to make sure that Ohioans understand the real implications of these proposals that Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan have proposed," said former Governor of Iowa, Chet Culver.
The DNC believes the policies Romney and Ryan have embraced would only further tear down middle class security. Massachusetts State Representative Marty Walz was on the tour to tell Ohio voters about Romney’s record as governor.
"Mitt Romney balanced his state budget on the backs of middle class workers in our state. 1,000 different taxes and fees in just four years were increased. The people of Zanesville need to understand that. that’s what he was like as governor of my state," said Walz.
The DNC will wrap up their tour Monday in Martin’s Ferry.
