Deputy Injured in Crash

A Muskingum County Sheriff’s Deputy is recovering from injuries sustained in a traffic accident.

The accident took place around 1:30am Thursday on Northpointe between Sam’s Club and Military Road. 

Zanesville Police said that Deputy Andrew Murphy was traveling west on Northpointe in the thru lane when he collided with a car driven by 51-year-old Pamela Moore. 

Police said that Moore was unfamiliar with the road and though she was in her lane, but had crossed into Murphy’s lane. 

Captain Doug Merry said this stretch of roadway is dark and Moore didn’t realize the road in that area is four lanes. 

Sheriff Matt Lutz said Deputy Murphy was admitted to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital and is in good condition with non life threatening injuries. 

Moore was also transported to Genesis Good Samaritan.

Sheriff Lutz said the deputy’s car looks like a total loss. Moore was cited for driving left of center.
