Deputy Involved Accident Investigated

The Highway Patrol says an accident is under investigation that involved at Muskingum County Sheriff’s Deputy and a driver of another vehicle. 

It happened Saturday night on State Route 146 at Vroom Road near "LA-Z Acre Campground."  A dispatcher from the New Philadelphia Post of the Highway Patrol says a report on the accident is not ready to be released at this time on the two vehicle accident.  Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz says 50-year-old deputy Rod Holdcroft was responding to an unknown 911 call at the time of the accident.  Lutz says Holdcroft had surgery Sunday and is expected to make a full recovery.  He has been with the Sheriff"s Office for two years.  There is also a report that the female driver of the other vehicle was flown by medical helicopter to a Columbus hospital.  The accident remains under investigation.
