ZANESVILE, OH – This week, the K9 Adoption Center’s Dog of the Week is a gentle giant.

Meet Dexter, a charming 3-year-old Saint Bernard mix. He is neutered, up to date on his vaccinations, and tips the scales at 83 pounds. Dexter’s impressive size is matched by his equally large heart.

“He’s pretty strong when he goes for walks. So, maybe someone who would be able to handle him. He kind of calms down as he walks,” K-9 Adoption Center Volunteer Doug McQuaid said.

The K9 Adoption Center wants to remind all dog owners that January 31st is the last day to secure your dog licenses for $16. Dog licenses help identify furry friends and reunite them with their owners if they ever get lost.

“What happens so many times is when we get dogs in, they don’t have collars or identification. A dog license is able to be looked up through the Auditors Office on dog tags, and that way we can find out where the dog lives and who they belong to. It’s just a way to help us and even people in the community reunite the dogs,” McQuaid said.
