Dillon State Park Celebrates Renovations

Nashport, OH – Dillon State Park unveiled the recent renovations to their Camp Store and Nature Center.

They hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday with members of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to celebrate.

Michael Durst, the Park Naturalist at Dillon, says with the amount of visitors they get at Dillon, they wanted to make everything more accessible for all guests.

He said this will also provide visitors with more opportunities to see and do things around the park.

“Having, not only, the Camp Store but the brand new patio system and the nice, spacious open air inside and everything that it offers,” Durst said. “Having the Nature Center too, nice and accessible outside of the campground but easy enough for everyone to get to and lots of opportunities for more learning and experiences going on inside the Nature Center.”

Durst said they’re not done with the work. He said there are plans to add more native plants and flowers to the pollinator garden located outside of the Nature Center. Durst said he hopes everyone has a great time exploring and learning about nature when they come to Dillon.

“These are resources here for park visitors, for people coming in,” Durst said. “We really want to be an established part of the community but obviously also welcome people from everywhere, all over the world, they can come here and enjoy all the resources for free. We don’t charge any admission fees, parking fees, you can just show up and take advantage of having our campgrounds, our Nature Center, Natures Program, our awesome Camp Store and just the park itself.”
