Dillon State Park Hosts Cycling Race

It was off to the races this morning in Dillon State Park. Professional and novice cyclists alike gathered to compete in the Ohio Mountain Bike Championship. The professional cyclists practice almost everyday and were ready for the race to begin.

“I am very excited yes, I love competition. I have some adrenaline going some nerves, a combination of everything. I got a really good warm up so hopefully all goes well,” tells Lee-Ann Beatty a competitor in OMBC.

The length of the course varied for each skill level, but the professional course was 25 miles. Even children were welcome to compete.

“Well we have two races going on. We have races for kids 12 and under and also races for the regular OMBC series race. The 12 and under, this is one of the biggest kids races we have ever had not today, but we have had as many as 62 kids in the 12 and under for this race and it has been pretty exciting over the years,” says OMBC Series Director Ryan O’Dell.

This is the 9th year for the OMBC race and O’Dell says the rock gardens in Dillon State Park make for an interesting challenge for riders.
