“Dog Day” Brings Large Crowd

Pups of all shapes and sizes were able to create their own artwork at the 2nd annual “Dog Day.”

Gallery ‘G’ invited the public and their pets to North Valley Bank Saturday afternoon for a day art-filled fun, in an effort to raise money for a good cause. Local artists featured their animal-inspired work, while the Zanesville K-9 Unit entertained the crowd.

“The K-9 Unit is not funded by tax-payer dollars, it’s actually totally funded by private donations, so events like this get us out there where people know about the dogs, what the dogs can do, and also help us keep the funding and the project going,” said Lieutenant, William Shaw.

Volunteers from the Animal Shelter were also in attendance, hoping to find some of their dogs forever homes. Local resident, David Bradley brought along his pup to join in the fun, and show his support for the shelter.

“I came down to support the Animal Shelter, it needs all the help it can get, I think,” Bradley said. “The thought of animals being destroyed, rather than finding them homes, is a main issue for me.”

All proceeds from Saturday’s event benefit the Zanesville K-9 Unit and the Animal Shelter.
