Don Richard McNutt (March 17, 1924 – November 11, 2009)

Don Richard McNutt, 85 of Blue Rock, OH passed away Wednesday November 11th 2009 in Zanesville.

Don Richard McNutt was born March 17, 1924, Noble County, Brookfield Township, Renrock, OH. His Mother was Mary Lora Reed McNutt and his Father was Don Swank McNutt.

Don is survived by his wife of 59 years Patty L. McNutt and three surviving sons, R. Reed (Bobbie) of Tryon NC, Patrick L. (Linda) of Raleigh NC, Michael M. (Phyllis) of New Concord OH. Don is predeceased by his two children Charlotte Jane McNutt Koehler (Jeff) of Roseville OH, Don O. (Patricia) of Spencer WV. 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren also survive him.

Don graduated from Muskingum College with a BS in Mathematics and a Minor in Economics. He also received an advanced degree in Mathematics from Tulane University in New Orleans. Don served in the US Army during WWII.

Don was a very well known and respected educator in Muskingum County where he touched the lives of countless students. Don taught for 30 years as well as continuing with his interest in agriculture. After retiring he had a second career as co-owner of McNutt Farm II School where he continued his lifetime interest in Sustainable/Diversed Farming for 30 years.

Don was very active in his local community where he belonged to the following organizations: Life time member of the American Legion, VFW 1058, Ohio State Retired Teachers Association, Muskingum County Retired Teachers Association, The Weston A. Price Foundation, Muskingum County Farm Bureau, R-Calf USA, 33 years on the Board of Directors of the Muskingum County Humane Society and 8 years on the Franklin Local School Board.

Visitations will be 5 to 8 pm Friday, November 13th and Saturday November 14th from 12 to 3 pm at the Thompson-Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls. Funeral services to follow at 3 pm with Rev. Gay Blau officiating. Burial will follow in Ark Spring Cemetery.
