Dorothy Shriner of New Lexington to Turn 100

Tomorrow, New Lexington’s own Dorothy Shriner turns 100 years old.

On Friday, friends and family members and even New Lexington’s mayor gathered to celebrate the special day and one of her biggest gifts today, besides the key to the village, was being awarded her very own “Dorothy Shriner day”.

“The biggest honor to me was…We awarded her the key to the village but we also awarded her with “Dorothy Shriner day” so we will always remember Dorothy Shriner in our hearts. She got to live and celebrate 100 years in today’s world.” said Dale Eveland, mayor of New Lexington.

Dorothy has inspired everyone with the life she’s lived so far and when asked about what her secret is, she joked “there is no secret”.

“This is so uplifting. It’s great to see her become emotional and enjoying celebrating with her friends and family. It’s always nice to interact with the community and especially celebrate something so wonderful as somebody turning 100 years old. It’s great that people in this community have rallied around her to celebrate with her.”

When asked what her favorite part of today was she said it was everyone there with her and that this would be her most memorable birthday yet.
