Dr. Edward J. Booth Dies at 72
A Zanesville native and long time resident passed away in the early morning hours on August 11.
Dr. Edward Joseph Booth, 72, passed away surrounded by his family at The Oaks at Bethesda. He graduated as the class president from Zanesville High School in 1961. After which he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Otterbein College and continued on to The Ohio State University Medical School.
After graduating he returned to Zanesville as a Certified Board Physician specializing in Urology. He was the co-founder and first President of the Zanesville Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He was also an avid runner, completing several marathons in his life. Booth also enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking. He was also the owner of thoroughbreds for harness horse racing.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 15 at the Snouffer Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, August 14 at the Snouffer Funeral Home located at 1150 West Military Road in Zanesville. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dr. Joseph Booth’s name may be made to the Zanesville Chapter Ducks Unlimited, 3808 James Court Zanesville, OH; Christ’s Table 28 S. 6th St. Zanesville, OH; East Side Community Ministry, 221 Stillwell St. Zanesville, OH or the charity of the donors choice.
Dr. Booth is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Troyan, his son, four daughters, eight grandchildren and three brothers.
