Dresden Elementary Student Dies After Being Hit By Car

WHIZ has learned a young child who was hit by a car in Zanesville Saturday afternoon has died.

Zanesville City Schools released the following message on their Facebook wall:

"Today we mourn for the family of John McIntire Elementary School teacher Terri Lightle, who lost their son and brother, Michael, after a tragic accident Saturday afternoon in Zanesville. Michael was a kindergarten student at Tri-Valley."
 

Zanesville Police said it happened near the corner of Inwood Street and Geneva Drive in Zanesville. A Red Pontiac driven by 28-year-old Carlos Dandridge of Zanesville was traveling south on Geneva when Michael ran out in front of the car and was hit. He was immediately rushed to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital and later flown to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus where he died.

Zanesville Police say no charges are expected to be filed but the incident remains under investigation.
