Dresden Fire Department receives new line of equipment
Zanesville, Ohio-Â The Dresden Volunteer Fire Department received a grant fund from the Federal Emergency Management Agency(FEMA), which funded over $225,000 to purchase new equipment for the department.

Captain Matt Salmons said that a lot of their self-contained breathing apparatus’ were out of date and needed replaced.
“Our current stock was 13 years old,” said Salmons. Â “We were awarded that grant in July of this year and we purchased 33 new air packs, a bottle for each of them, plus a spare.”
Salmons said they also received 38 face masks, 38 voice amplifiers for each mask, and a pack tracking device. Â He said that they never had a tracking device before, which will allow them to locate a down firefighter during an emergency.
“We wear the packs during structure fires, gas leaks and incidents that require us to be on fresh air when the atmosphere is dangerous. Â It’s a great asset to our department. Â We were very lucky to receive this grant.”
All of the new equipment was placed in service on Monday and is ready to serve the community.
