Dresden Swim Center is Officially Open

DRESDEN, OH – For many, Memorial Day means the beginning of summer and look for ways to beat the heat. One of those ways opened up Monday in Dresden.

Starting Monday the Dresden Swim Center is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and is open until 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays with future night swims planned when the summer heat is at its peak.

Admission is $10 for those over four feet tall and $8  for those under four feet. The swim center is also home to “The Hangout”, where swimmers can take a break in the air-conditioning and grab 0some food and drink. The people who work for the swim center were just as excited to go back to work as the swimmers were to dive in.

“So this is my third season managing here. When I started I wasn’t sure what I was getting into and it’s always something I look forward to in the summer. So this is the highest guard staff we’ve had in the last, at least, five years. So I’m up to 22 guards right now. The Hangout staff was all returners this year so we have a lot of kids that want to come back and their excitement and energy makes it exciting. There’s also There’s some area pools that have unfortunately had to shut down this season and so we’re bummed about that but we’re thankful that we can offer a great facility for our community and have helpful staff here as well,” said Nicole Foraker, the pool manager.

One of those returning staffers, a life guard named Steyr Rognon, shared his thoughts on why him and the others keep coming back to work at the swim center.

“My coworkers, their great to be around great to hang out with. It doesn’t seem like a job when you’re having this much fun,” Rognon said.

More information can be found on the village of Dresden’s website and on the swim centers Facebook page.
