Duncan Falls Fire Department Receives MARCS Radio Grant

DUNCAN FALLS, OH – The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of State Fire Marshal has announced the recipients of this year’s Multi-Agency Radio Communications System grant.
This year’s MARCS radio grant came to a total of $4 million. Over 300 fire departments in Ohio have been awarded funds to purchase MARCS radios, a vital tool in emergency response. Among the fortunate recipients is the Duncan Falls Fire Department, receiving $20,438 to enhance their communication infrastructure.
“We’re very happy we were able to receive the grant. It takes a huge financial strain off of the department and lets us come into the 21st century and be ready for the future as well,” Lieutenant Cody Smith said.
The MARCS radios grant plays a crucial role in improving emergency services, allowing communication between first responders during critical situations. This grant ensures that Ohio’s first responders are equipped with the necessary tools while prioritizing community safety.
“The pagers are important for our department because we’re still a 100% volunteer department. We have to have some way to notify the members that there is a run, and a pager is an easy and reliable method to make sure our members know that there’s a run,” Smith said.
Other fire departments in Muskingum County to receive the grant include:
Zanesville Fire Department – $2,950
Roseville Volunteer Fire Department – $120.00
South Zanesville Fire Department – $480.00
