Earth Day on the River

One organization needs your help in keeping Zanesville beautiful.

The Third Annual Earth Day on the River will be celebrated at Zane’s Landing Park this Saturday. Instead of cleaning up the river this year, Muskingum Yes is asking the public to be a part of a litter pick-up in the downtown area. Gloves and bags will be provided.

"I feel so empowered when I do a litter clean up and people think ew gross trash but once you’re out there doing it and working with people laughing and having a good time, it’s really fun," said Coordinator Kris Geis.

A fair will also take place in the park with food and live entertainment. Vendors will be on site with a variety of environmental demonstrations and displays. There will also be a kids area.

"A lot of people might think it’s just a regular fair, but there’s a lot of details that we went into to make sure that the fair is sustainable and can continue and can also be sustainable and not cause an ecological impact on the park," said Geis.

Several groups will be collecting and recycling batteries, bicycles, tennis shoes, and pet food bags. The litter pick-up will begin at 11 a.m. and the fair will run from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m.
