Eastside Community Ministry Accepting Donations For School Clothing Giveaway

Eastside Clothing Giveaway

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The new school year is coming up and a local organization is helping kids get a new look.

Eastside Community Ministry is hosting a back to school clothing giveaway on Saturday, August 10th. Gently used and new clothing will be given to kids from preschool to 12th grade. There will be a variety of sizes and options to choose from and to use for their back to school outfits.

“Well last year, we saw a huge need for school clothes. There were a lot of people coming in to our free clothing bank and looking for children’s clothes and different things for back to school. So we decided well, let’s reach out to the community, see if we can get some donations and have a back to school giveaway. So that’s how the clothing drive started and then people were calling this year to see ‘hey are you doing that again this year.’ So we are doing it again,” said Eastside Executive Director, Jamie Trout.

Donations of new and gently used clothing are being accepted Monday through Thursday at Eastside Community Ministry from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Trout said they just want to make the back to school experience enjoyable for kids.

“I just think about when I was younger and how excited I was for the first day of school to put on my brand new outfit, new shoes, and my school supplies. So I just want every child to experience that. And our community is really good about stepping up and fulfilling that need for children too. So we just want to be able to have the kids go back to school and be excited to go back to school,” Trout said.

The clothing giveaway takes place at Eastside Community Ministry on Stillwell Street from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, August 10th.
