Election Day 2015: Voters Head to the Polls

Election day is finally here. If you still need to cast your ballot, the polls will be open tonight until 7:30.

Local residents flooded the polls Tuesday morning to vote on numerous candidate races, including Zanesville mayor and law director, as well as, several statewide and local initiatives. We caught up with voters at Faith United Methodist Church in Zanesville, to see where they stand on some of the controversial issues.

“I voted against all three of the issues this morning, because I don’t think we need anymore drugs out than what we already have,” said Earl Gadd.

“I voted yes for the redistricting act, just because it can’t be worse than what we’ve already got, no on 2, and then yes on 3, of course,” said Brian Quattlebaum. “It’s not great that we all can’t get into the industrial side of it, but there’s going to be a lot of real good business opportunities coming up.”

“I voted no on Issue 3, I don’t feel it’s a good thing, I have been a cancer patient myself, but I don’t think it’s the right thing to do the way they’re going about it,” said Debbie Savage.

“I voted yes on 1, no on 2, and yes on 3,” said Scott Patterson.

If Issue 3 were to pass and Issue 2 fail, the amendment would make Ohio the fifth state to legalize marijuana for both medicinal and recreational use. We will bring you election results throughout the night on WHIZ-TV, on our three radio stations, and on whiznews.com.
