Election Day Polling Expectations

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Many Americans view voting as a civic duty and recent years have seen voting procedures revised to ensure election integrity and voter convenience.
Muskingum County Board of Elections Specialist Cheryl West explained some of the changes that voters may encounter and why their votes matter.
“When you go there to vote, make sure you have a valid, photo ID, which could be a drivers license, or a state ID, or a newer passport or certain military ID’s,” West said.
West noted that the Board of Elections office experienced a heavy turnout for early voting and she anticipates a strong turnout on Election Day. The process can be shortened by having your ID ready to show the election workers.
“I think, you know especially with the local issues, I think your vote has a lot of impact locally,” West said. “A lot of times you know the people that are running and you know what they’re trying to do and what they’re trying to impact on or how they’re trying to make things better. So I think if you exercise your right to vote, especially the local issues, that’s going to help you and your children, your grandchildren and neighbors make it better.”
Polls will open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and voters can learn more about their precinct by visiting their county’s Board of Elections website.
