EMA Flood Update

Flood 1

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Emergency Management Agency is continuing to monitor the water levels on the Muskingum River.

EMA Director, Jeff Jadwin, said flood stage is eighteen feet. EMA keeps gauges of the levels of Muskingum River in Coschocton, Dresden, Zanesville, and McConnelsville.

“Part of that is we’re part of the Muskingum Watershed District which starts at Canton Stark County, and all that water flows to us and then down to the Ohio River. At this point, Coschocton is above flood stage. Dresden is at flood stage.” Jadwin said.

He also said homes on Pioneer Drive, in Blue Rock, were surrounded by water. The Fire Department was called and the Red Cross was at hand to assist with any evacuations.

“The Red Cross did respond during the night, to come here to the office and met with us, and we were ready to open shelters if need be,” he added.

It is always encouraged for homeowners near the river to sign up for the Muskingum County Citizen Alert system either on the EMA website or by calling the EMA office.
