Emergency Home Repairs Program
An area group wants to make repairs to your home for free if you live in Perry County.
The Perry Housing Coalition prevents homelessness and makes sure homes in the area are safe and affordable. The Emergency Home Repairs Program is designed to make necessary repairs to homes that people own and live in.
"A common example of what we are talking about are water heater replacement, some furnace work, some minor plumbing or electrical work, handicap accessibility is always an option, and pest extermination. We’ve had at least one situation where an individual had a roof problem but they couldn’t afford to pay their deductible that their insurance company was requiring so we fronted the money for the deductible," Patrick Skilliter Chairperson for the Perry Housing Coalition said.
Skilliter said it’s any inexpensive repair that can be linked back to safety. To be eligible you have to have documented proof that you can’t afford the improvements.
"We do have a limited amount of money so it is first come first served and the program will be in place until the money runs out or until the end of September. So we encourage people to call us immediately," Skilliter said.
The program is only availalbe to residents in Perry County. If you are interested call the Perry Housing Coalition at 740-684-0942.
