Emergency Responders Conclude Two Day Training

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Sunday marks day two of the Largest Heavy-Duty Emergency Cross Training in Ohio.

Nearly 100 firefighters, first responders and professional towers gathered at the Muskingum County Fair Grounds to simulate emergency incidents. Earlier this morning the focus was on ‘Pit’ training and part two was the ‘After Lunch Scenario.’

"What we will do is, this will be a real time scenario. The trucks will not be allowed to be on scene there not even allowed to be called back over here yet to see what the scenario is. They will be call by the way they would’ve been called if there were an emergency scene," said Zanesville Fire Assistant Chief Doug Hobson.

The scenario was set up like a real accident with mannequins placed throughout the scene. Hobson said the trainees would have to respond to the incidents as if it were the real deal.

"They’re going to have to get into everyone of these vehicles, they’re going to have to start using their tools, start to stabilize the vehicles. Everything they’ve learned the last day and a half, now it becomes real life," said Hobson.

Hobson said he feels the overall training session was a huge success and they are looking forward to next year.
