‘Employability Expo’ at Mid-East Career and Technology Center

ZANESVILLE Ohio– A local school had employers discuss with students how they can make themselves the most employable.
The Mid-East Career and Technology Centers Zanesville Campus, had it’s 10th annual Employability Expo. Almost 90 companies came to speak to students about what makes a good employee and how to make the applicant the best candidate for the position. Coordinator of Business Partnerships and Placement Shannon Kenily said each junior at Mid-East gets the opportunity to learn more about the job world from the people who work in it.
“It’s just a great way for our instructors and our students to network with area businesses to see what all of the wonderful businesses are that they can connect with the community. It’s also wonderful that our employees talk with the students about the importance or professional skills,” said Kenily.
Kenily said the teachers tell the students about the workforce but when companies come in and tell the students the same thing the faculty is saying, it makes more of an impact on the students.
“Instead of just hearing it from Mrs. Kenily all the time, then it kind of sets in and seems real to them. The soft skills, showing up on time, being respectful,” said Kenily.
Muskingum County Ohio Means Jobs also spoke to all the students about the jobs available in the community and the state.
