Engineering Firm Picked for Buckeye Lake

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has contracted with a company to design the long-term remediation of Buckeye Lake Dam.

Gannett Fleming Engineers and Architects of Westerville got the 8.3 million dollar contract approved by the State Controlling Board this week.

That paves the way for preliminary design options developed by the firmto be discussed with the Buckeye Lake community over the next few weeks, as well as proposed strategies to expedite the project to the shortest length of time possible.

Gannett Fleming is an American-based engineering firm specializing in international planning, design and construction management.

Last Thursday Governor John Kasich announced that a design had been chosen for the dam project.

The nearly 180-year-old structure has been weakened by several hundred homes, docks and other structures built into it. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers concluded it’s at risk of failing.
