Expansion, Renovation and Construction at Genesis-Bethesda Hospital

The Genesis-Bethesda Hospital is making progress in their expansion and renovation construction project.

The initial planning of the project began in August of 2010, once the plan was approved the construction began in May of 2013. The project will include major renovations to the existing Bethesda building as well as constructing a new addition and a freestanding cancer center. Chief Operating Officer, Alan R. Burns talked about the renovations.

"Almost entirely, the hospital has been completed renovated. Right now the south tower has been completed, 4, 3, 2 and we get floor number 1 within the month. Right now, we’re standing in the lab area, that’s complete. We’ll be able to relocate our lab services in here in the month of November."

The new features within the hospital will include all private patient rooms and bathrooms fully equipped with patient servers and bedside computers, a new pediatrics unit, a courtyard that will bring in more natural lighting and 21st century technology throughout. Chief operating officer Alan Burns explains that their patient’s experience is their number one concern.

"The whole project has been about elevating the patient experience. We want to give the patient’s the best possible experience here in Zanesville, Ohio and Southeast Ohio that they could find anywhere. We believe this facility is really state of the art."

Construction is expected to be finished by June of 2015.
