Fatal Accident in Fairfield County

One person is dead after an accident in Fairfield County Monday night.

The State Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 6 p.m. on Millersport Road in Walnut Township.  24-year-old Melanie Kriger of Pickerington was traveling southbound when she lost control of her Chevy Cavalier, went off the right side of the road and struck a tree.

She was transported to Fairfield Medical Center by Thurston Fire Department, where she later died.  The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.  The accident remains under investigation.
