Fatal accident in Muskingum County
Zanesville – The Ohio State Highway Patrol Zanesville Post is investigating a single vehicle crash that killed one person on US 40 near milepost 4 in Hopewell Township, Muskingum County.
According to patrol Sgt. Jeff Jirles: “On Sunday, June 2, 2024, at approximately 12:12 a.m., a red 1996 Ford F250 was traveling westbound on US 40 when it went off the right side of the roadway striking a ditch and a utility pole. The vehicle overturned and traveled down an embankment, ejecting the driver.”
The truck was operated by 20 year old Logan D. Mott, of Hopewell, Ohio. Mott was pronounced deceased at Genesis Hospital.
The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office, Ohio Department of Transportation, National Trail Fire Department, and Ford’s Towing responded to the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
