Fatal Crash in Coshocton County

CONESVILLE, Ohio–The State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal two vehicle accident on State Route 16 in Coshocton County.

It happened around 8:30 a.m. Saturday near mile post 2.

According to Sgt. Jeff Jirles with the Zanesville Post, 54-year-old Chad Bonifield of Fresno was towing a show car on a trailer when the trailer became disconnected from the truck.

Authorities said Bonifield stopped the truck and trailer in the westbound lanes of SR 16 and was outside of his pick-up when he was fatally struck from behind.

Troopers said the vehicle that struck Bonifield was driven by 76-year-old Darrell Mynes of Millersburg.

The State Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash and expects to present the case to the Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
