Fatal Train/Vehicle Accident in Perry County

The Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal accident involving a train and a vehicle in Perry County. Sergeant Timothy Bullock says it happened on Township Road 185 near State Route 37 Sunday just before 3:30 in the afternoon. The trooper says 85-year-old Jarvie Johnson of New Lexington was traveling south on Township Road 185 and failed to yield to an eastbound train at a rail grade crossing. Trooper Bullock says Mr. Johnson entered the path of the train and was struck. No flashing signals or gates were present at the intersection.
