Feature Artist David Vickers

In just a few days, fireworks will light up the sky, but before that, hundreds will enjoy the monthly First Friday Art Walk.

For the month of July, the Artist Colony of Zanesville will feature David Vickers of the Heart of Art Studio. Vickers started drawing dogs around ten years ago. Just few years after that, he began painting. His initial inspiration to draw came from his old dog Brownie the Beagle. That dog is even the center of his favorite piece.

“I had dogs of my own,” Vickers said. “Plus I go to the library. They have pictures of dogs. ”

He looks at the pictures from the library and paints them completely from memory.

Vickers is one of the original artists at the Starlight Art Workshop. He is excited to have the spotlight on his work this month.

“I think it was so real nice,” he said. “I appreciate it. They think I’m doing good and are proud of me.”
