Fieldhouse Foundation awards

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Fieldhouse Foundation awarded several high school athletes with college scholarships for their work on and off the field.

Two Zanesville High School students were co-winners of the Courage in Athletic Award. Libby Dolan and Brian Berry have both overcome medical difficulties to be successful in sports, the classroom, and the community. Berry has type 1 diabetes and he said it’s just another obstacle for him to overcome.

“It motivated me to do better and achieve better things. I not only have to face challenges like everybody else but, I have my own challenges to face. So, I have to push myself further than everybody else to do the same thing,” said Berry.

Berry will be attending the University of Dayton to study mechanical engineering. Newly appoint C.E.O. of The Fieldhouse, Alainna Durfee, said the Courage in Athletics Award is given to athletes that overcame adversity.

“It’s all about that never giving up, attitude and playing as if there’s no one watching. So, we’re excited that we get to honor those types of athletes as well,” said Durfee.
