Filing Deadline For May Primary
The deadline to file for the May primary election was 4 o’clock Wednesday. Muskingum County Board of Elections Director Chris Hamill says if the primary were held today there would be one contested race – on the republican ticket – and four issues to be decided. The contested race is for Zanesville City Law Director. Zanesville City Councilman and attorney David Tarbert is facing Zanesville attorney Derrick Moorehead in the May primary election. The winner faces current law director, democrat Scott Hillis in November. The four issues on the primary ballot include a half-mill 20-year levy for the Muskingum County Senior Center for a new facility, a 2.5 mill levy for the Village of Philo for current expenses , a 6-tenths mill levy for Jackson Township cemetery maintenance and Village of Dresden – natural gas aggregation. The ballot won’t be certified and official until February 11th at 4 p.m.
