Fire at New Lexington Tire Business

Multiple fire crews respond to the scene of a tire fire at a business in New Lexington.
 

The fire broke out around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cheney Tire Service on North Main Street.
 

"Upon arrival we had a working fire in rear of the building..there are numerous tires back there and that made it difficult for us to get to the fire so we started removing tires and was able to get in and put it out" said New Lexington Fire Captain Don Phillips.
 

He says the building suffered heavy smoke and heat damage.
 

No one was injured in the fire, however Captain Phillips says a few firefighters did get overheated.
 

No word on a damage estimate at this time.
 

The fire remains under investigation.
 

Crooksville, Shawnee and Somerset Fire Departments also responded to the scene.
