Firefighters Cook Up Breakfast
Local fire fighters donned their aprons Saturday to make breakfast for the community.
The perry township fire department pancake day is the department’s only fundraiser. The tradition started back in the 19-60’s and is now something the community looks forward too.
"There was one year that we didn’t have the pancake dinner and the community was rather negative toward us, they didn’t like that, so they look very forward to this," says Assistant Chief Josh Robinson.
On average, the Perry Township Fire Department will raise between $1,200 and $1,500. The cost was donation based and included all you can eat pancakes and sausage cooked to perfection by the firemen.
"The wives help a little bit with the serving and stuff, but the firemen take care of all the cooking and organizing of the dinner," says Robinson.
Assistant Chief Robinson says he expects around 500 people to attend. If you missed Pancake Day, you will have to wait until next year to attend. It is traditionally held the Saturday before Election Day.
