First Baptist Church Annual Block Party

First Baptist Church Block Party

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A South Zanesville church held a block party this afternoon for the community.

The First Baptist Church’s annual block party brings the entire community together for an afternoon of fun with games, prizes, food, refreshments, and even drawings for school supplies. Pastor of First Baptist Church, David Nuhfer said the church wanted to inspire members of the community to come to events like the block party to be themselves and have a good time.

“I don’t think any of us ever completely grew up, we’re all kids. And we want everybody to know that First Baptist Church is a place where they can come just as they are, relax, smile, meet some friends, make some new friends. And just go away saying you know what, that’s a place where I really felt welcome, and I’d like to go back,” he said.

Nuhfer also said the church wanted to make sure every child received a book bag filled with supplies before they left the event. Most of the book bags were donated by members of the church.

“Either they purchased them. We started in January and every month we asked them to bring two or three specific items. Or folks would just give us a donation of money and say hey, go out and buy whatever you need because we want to make sure that all the backpacks had just about everything in them that were the same,” Nuhfer mentioned.

Starting in September, First Baptist Church is teaming up with Eastside Community Ministry on a free produce market that will be held on the fourth Friday of every month.
