First Baptist Church of South Zanesville to Hold Community Block Party and Bookbag Giveaway this Saturday

SOUTH ZANESVILLE, Ohio- This Saturday the First Baptist Church in South Zanesville is having its annual community block party from 1PM-3PM.
The block party will be outside the church and include refreshments, games with prizes for the kids, prize drawings for adults to win certificates and gift cards, visits from the furry friends at the Animal Shelter Society, face painting, snow cones, and some back-to-school giveaways.
“I think the best part of the afternoon is going to be that we are going to have 150 bookbags like this filled with school supplies for students K-12. The students will be able to get a number at the registration table during the course of the afternoon, we will be drawing the numbers are random, but every student who gets a number will get a bookbag while they’re here Saturday afternoon,” David Nuhfer, pastor at First Baptist Church of South Zanesville stated.
The church was unable to host the event last year during the initial wave of the pandemic and they are looking forward to providing a safe outlet for people to socialize and unwind.
“We just want to give people a chance to relax and have some fun because people have been under a lot of stress lately, and this is just a chance to unwind,” Nuhfer said.
There is no cost to attend the event and it is open to the entire community. The church asks that if you are not vaccinated for COVID-19, you wear a mask during the event. If you don’t have one or would like a mask, the church will have many available for distribution.
