First ever Riverfest is making a splash this weekend!

ZANESVILLE, OH- The Muskingum Valley Park District is making a big splash in the community this weekend with their first ever Riverfest.
Today those who attended the event enjoyed food trucks, bounce houses live musical performances and the chance to see wolves with the Ohio Canine Center,
“We did a statistically valid survey in 2019 and one of the biggest things on that was people wanted bigger special events, so we have been planning this for a couple years now, and we weren’t going to try it until 2025, and we went ahead and said lets give it a go this year, so this is our first year and we’re excited to be here,” said The Muskingum Valley Park District Administrative Assistant, Michelle Illing.
The Muskingum Valley Park District hopes to offer the community the chance to experience the outdoors in a safe and fun environment.
“The purpose of Riverfest, we wanted to celebrate the Muskingum River, we feel that it is underutilized, so we wanted to really bring people to use our river, unfortunately we are in a drought, so a lot of the river activities have had to be moved somewhere else on the lower Muskingum, but overall, we’re still here on the land celebrating the river as well,” said Illing.
The fun will continue tomorrow at Zane’s Landing Park with a pro-wrestling show, a glow party and more. Activities will begin at 10 a.m. and wrap up at 10 p.m. For more information on Riverfest visit MVParkDistrict.org.
