ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Volunteers worked hard Tuesday afternoon to beautify the Y-Bridge.

The Muskingum Valley Garden Society and the Master Gardener’s in Zanesville put flowers along the Y-Bridge Tuesday.

Darlene Turner, the project coordinator, said an irrigation system was set up to water the flowers.

“The flowers go on the bridge in containers and are irrigated by a mechanism that they have installed.”

About 30 volunteers helped to make this project happen, and the Garden Society is still looking for sponsors to purchase flower containers.

“We still have 20 more containers that we would like to get sold for this year to keep our project going, said Turner. If it wasn’t for the community supporting our containers and paying for these, we wouldn’t be able to do the project.”

This is the sixth year that flowers have been put on the Y-Bridge.
