Former Harrison Twp EMS Board Members in Court

Two former members of the Harrison Township Emergency Medical Service Board appeared in court Monday  for sentencing in a theft case.

49-year-old Richard Bennett of Duncan Falls and 49-year-old Terry Randles of Philo were both sentenced in Muskingum County Common Pleas Court to 3 years of community control on theft charges.

Bennett was also sentenced to 60 days in jail and must pay $5,125  in restitution and Randles was sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay $1,800 in restitution.

An investigation by the Attorney General’s Office found that Bennett and Randles along with five other members of the Harrison Township EMS Board misspent nearly $500,000 between 2008 and 2012 that should have been used for emergency services.

Four other members in the case  were also in court Monday.

Robert and Beverly Hatfield pled guilty to theft and obstructing justice charges.

Mary Randles and Heather Price both pled guilty to a theft charge.

A pre-sentence investigation was ordered by Judge Kelly Cottrill.
