Former Mayor Passes Away

The City of Cambridge is mourning the loss of one of its leaders Monday.

Former Mayor Sam Salupo passed away Sunday night at Southeastern Ohio Medical Center, apparently of a heart attack.

Currently Mayor Tom Orr says that city hall is in shock over the death and said, "Anytime we lose a leader it hurts. He was truly a caring person."

Orr went on to say that anytime the city loses someone like Salupo it hurts, especially with all he did for the community.

Salupo, a republican, was elected Mayor of Cambridge in 1999 and took office in 2000 and was an active member of the community.

Orr says they’re flying flags at half mast in Cambridge in honor of the former mayor.
