Four Car Accident Slows Down Traffic

A four car accident caused some traffic back-ups Tuesday on Maple Avenue.

Police responded to the scene in front of the Colony Square Mall just after 4 p.m.

Sergeant Jon McCoy of the Zanesville Police Department said the driver of a dodge caravan heading northbound failed to see traffic stopped in front of him and started a chain reaction crash, resulting in a four car pile-up.

According to McCoy, the driver that caused the crash was treated at the scene for injuries resulting from the airbag

"He rear-ended the first vehicle, causing vehicles to pile up into a total of a four car crash, with minor injuries," said McCoy.

The drivers name has not been released.

McCoy said he was charged with failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead.
