Foxes in Folklore Comes to the New Concord Branch Library

ZANESVILLE, OH – What does the fox say? Well the Muskingum County Library System is giving you the chance to find out.

On Saturday, September 12th, from noon until 1PM at the New Concord Branch Library will be “Foxes in Folklore”.

Scott Glover, MCLS Branch Services Manager, says in a partnership with Ohio Canid Center, there will be a live fox for people to interact with.

“Basically, it’s an introductory program to foxes, we will have an ambassador fox there from the Ohio Canid Center, so we’re excited about that.” Glover said. “Anytime there’s live animals there’s a lot of excitement, especially from kids.”

This program is open to all ages but registration is required as there are a limited number of seats.

Attendees will also get the chance to see some pelts, learn about foxes’ natural habitats, as well as the roles they play in folklore and fairy tales.

“It’s just a cool educational program, an opportunity for families to come out together and learn something about these amazing creatures.” Glover said. “They are well known in folklore for their craftiness and being sly and they tend to be the guy that thinks above everyone else.”
