Foxfire rolls out the red carpet for a students award night

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Foxfire Schools rolled out the red carpet to recognize student achievement in their first-ever Red Carpet Night.
Thursday night’s Hollywood-themed awards celebration recognized over 700 K-12 students for achievements in attendance, grades, extracurricular involvement, and more.
“…and I think that’s critical for all youth but especially with at risk youth that we focus on what’s right with today’s youth versus what’s wrong and for a lot of these kids they’ve done amazing things throughout the year. And, it’s important for me to highlight those people and let their parents and family members and the community know, like there’s a lot of great things happening with our at risk youth. And, it’s really important to recognize them and make sure they know that they are valued,” Superintendent Todd Whiteman said.
Foxfire Schools serves at-risk youth ages K-12 from 21 surrounding school districts. Whiteman says the creation of this event has been welcomed by the students and their families, who are excited to see positive classroom experiences.
“We’re big on focusing on strength, right? And strengths is we focus on what’s strong not wrong. And so, the feedbacks been really good cause I think people want to hear about their kids and their grandkids and their relatives and they want to hear the good things that they’re doing, right? And as a parent, I want the same thing,” Whiteman said.
Thursday’s event was part of the school’s mission to empower every student to rise from challenges, embrace growth, and ignite their potential. You can learn more about Foxfire Schools by visiting their website.
